There is no clear benefit from tilt table testing. b

Why?

  • The ability of tilt table testing to diagnose true cases with vasovagal syncope is unclear.
  • Even though patients with a history of syncope have a positive test more often than healthy controls c , those with a positive test do not clearly have a different prognosis. c
  • Treatment regimes for patients with recurrent syncope have only been tested on patients with positive tilt tests a b , so whether tilt table testing is able to select patient groups who will benefit from treatment is unclear.
