Syncope is a transient loss of consciousness. Common causes of syncope include: b 
  • arrhythmias (tachycardias and bradycardias)
  • aortic stenosis
  • myocardial infarction
  • aortic dissection
  • pulmonary embolism
  • seizure
  • transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
  • subclavian steal
  • carotid sinus hypersensitivity
  • vasovagal
  • orthostatic hypotension
  • drugs
  • situational syncope (micturition, defecation, post-prandial)
  • psychogenic
  • hypoglycaemia
