The risk is increased with a

  • age > 75
  • a subarachnoid haemorrhage
  • dysphagia
  • visual field defect
  • motor weakness

and reduced following a lacunar infarct. a

Why?

Stroke: urinary incontinence is more likely with a subarachnoid haemorrhage and increasing age
