  • 2% of patients with mitral valve prolapse aged > 35 will have a stroke within 10 years (2.0%: 95% CI: 1.2% to 2.9%) b

Mitral valve prolapse: ischaemic heart disease and diabetes mellitus increase the risk of stroke
