Look for evidence of heart failure b particularly cardiogenic shock. a

Why?

  • 3.9% will develop congestive heart failure (95% CI: 3.5% to 4.3%) b
  • One in fourteen patients develop cardiogenic shock in hospital (7.5%: 95% CI: 6.8% to 8.3%) a b
  • Over half of patients with cardiogenic shock die (55% to 77%). a
