  • Anticoagulation can be done on an outpatient basis in uncomplicated cases a    
    Avoid for patients with: d
    • recurrent venous thromboembolism
    • active bleeding
    • a clotting disorder
    • problems being followed-up
Why?
  • Outpatient anticoagulation is not clearly less effective or safer than inpatient anticoagulation. d  
  • LMWH and warfarin given to outpatients is cheaper than heparin and warfarin given to inpatients. a
