Upper limb DVT

Death is common. PE and chronic arm swelling are rarer. c

Note:

  • 7% of patients develop symptomatic PE (95% CI: 3.2% to 11%) and 6% develop arm swelling (95% CI: 2.4% to 9.6%). c
  • 16% are dead within a month (95% CI: 11% to 22%), rising to 34% within 3 months (95% CI: 27% to 41%). c
