What is a CAT?
Critically appraised topics

A critically appraised topic or CAT is a structured abstract of a medical journal article. Every article we use in the EB On-call database has been critically appraised using evidence-based medicine techniques, and converted into a standard format. For more information about CATs, see the CATbank pages on the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine web site.
